Tapas & Café Experience

As the semester draws to a close, the Spanish Language Section celebrated the students’ successful completion of their beginner Spanish course with a vibrant Spanish-themed fiesta. Throughout the semester, students have been introduced to important aspects of Spanish culture, including the traditions of tapas and café culture. This special event offered them the opportunity to experience these cultural elements firsthand through an interactive and enjoyable learning experience.

Participants had the opportunity to:
  • Learn how to prepare popular Spanish tapas
  • Experience Spanish coffee culture
  • Practise Spanish in a fun and relaxed environment
  • Enjoy tasting the dishes they create
  • Connect with fellow Spanish language students
During the session, students leart how to prepare the famous tortilla de patatas (Spanish potato omelette) and explored coffee-making techniques using a traditional coffee pot, gaining practical insights into Spain’s rich culinary traditions.
Learning a new language opens the door to becoming a global citizen, but understanding the culture allows you to become part of the community. Through experiences such as this, students can deepen their appreciation of the Spanish language and culture beyond the classroom.
¡Vamos a aprender español! (Let's learn Spanish!)
