ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY COURSE PLACEMENT
- Students are required to register for English language proficiency courses based on the chart below to successfully fulfil the requirement of 2 University (U) type credits:
- Students with qualifications not listed in the chart will be placed under Package A, subject to equivalency verification by the school where applicable.
- Students are responsible for verifying that they register for courses under the correct credit type. Registering courses under the wrong credit type may result in students being unable to fulfil graduation requirements.
- Students placed under Package A or Package B are required to successfully complete the Prerequisite (Z) course before registering for the corresponding University (U) course. Registration for the University (U) course without first passing the Prerequisite (Z) course is not permitted.
- After successfully completing the 2 University (U) type credits requirement, students may choose to register for more LHP series courses as Elective (E).
PASSING GRADE BY COURSE CREDIT TYPE
- The passing grade for English language proficiency courses when taken as Prerequisite (Z) course or University (U) course is grade C.
- The passing grade for English language proficiency courses when taken as Elective (E) course is grade D-.
ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS
- As per the Garis Panduan Kehadiran Kursus Penilaian 100% Kerja Kursus practiced internally by the English Language Section, School of Languages, Literacies and Translation, students with serious attendance issues will be issued Notis Ketidakhadiran dan Makluman Tindakan Disiplin.
- For every threshold of 30% of the estimated total class hours in the semester, students who are absent without valid reasons or supporting evidence may face assessment mark penalties or may lose eligibility to take an assessment.
- Students are therefore expected to attend classes consistently and take responsibility for their course participation.

Yes, where required under your programme's curriculum, students must successfully complete the required English language proficiency credits.
Check the placement pathway based on your entry qualification.
If you are placed under Package A or Package B, you must successfully complete the corresponding prerequisite (Z) course before registering for the University (U) course.
Yes. Students may register for additional LHP-series courses as Elective (E).
If you have registered for the wrong credit type, you may apply for a Code Change while you are still an active student. Students are strongly advised to check their course registration and credit type early in their studies. If an incorrect credit type is only discovered at the point of graduation, there may not be sufficient time to complete the Code Change process and you may not fulfil the English language requirement for graduation. Don't wait until graduation to check your English course requirements.
No. The English language proficiency courses offered are assessed entirely through coursework.
