MATFP Academic Engagement Day 2026
The annual MATFP Academic Engagement Day 2026 once again brought together the academic community of the Master of Arts in Translation for Professionals (MATFP) programme, including academic staff, administrative personnel, and, most importantly, both senior and junior students. Held on 29 April 2026 at the Pinang Conference Hall, School of Languages, Literacies and Translation, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), the event welcomed approximately 50 student participants.
Designed to foster connection and engagement, the programme provided students with a valuable opportunity to meet their lecturers and peers in a relaxed and interactive setting. The event commenced with an ice-breaking session, where participants were grouped across diverse backgrounds, encouraging meaningful introductions and collaboration.
A key highlight of the programme was a sharing session by Muhammad Rashid bin Omar, a final-year MATFP student, who offered insights into his academic journey, experiences, and personal growth throughout the programme. His sharing provided valuable guidance and inspiration, particularly for junior students navigating their own paths in the field of translation.
This was followed by a series of interactive games and activities aimed at strengthening camaraderie while testing participants’ general knowledge of the MATFP programme and the translation industry. The lively and competitive atmosphere added excitement to the event, with winners receiving attractive prizes in recognition of their performance.
Over the years, the MATFP Academic Engagement Day has become a highly anticipated event within the programme. It plays a vital role in nurturing a strong sense of community, promoting collaboration, and building lasting professional and social connections among members of the MATFP cohort.
