International Translation Day 2025 Celebration @ SoLLaT
The School of Languages, Literacies and Translation (SoLLaT) proudly celebrated the 5th consecutive International Translation Day (ITD), organised by the Master of Arts in Translation for Professionals section. This annual event continues to highlight the invaluable contributions of translators and interpreters in bridging linguistic and cultural divides, both locally and globally.
The theme for 2025, “Translation, Shaping a Future You Can Trust,” underscores the vital role of language professionals in fostering mutual understanding and ensuring that communication barriers never hinder connection and collaboration.
Held from 3 to 7 November 2025, this year’s celebration featured a series of engaging talks, workshops, and mentoring sessions with industry leaders such as Centific Global Solutions, Clarivate (Malaysia), and the Malaysian Institute of Translation & Books (ITBM). Participants gained first-hand exposure to current industry practices, including career development opportunities in the interpreting field and emerging trends in legal translation.
A key highlight of ITD 2025 was the hands-on workshop on AI-Powered Interpretation conducted by Sistec AI, where participants explored innovative solutions transforming the future of communication and multilingual accessibility.
Once again, the event served as a dynamic platform for students, academics, and professionals to connect, learn, and celebrate the art and science of translation. Through this annual celebration, SOLLAT reaffirms its commitment to enhancing the visibility and recognition of translators and interpreters as essential agents of understanding in an increasingly interconnected world.
