MATFP Industry Visit 2025: Unlock Your Career Potential

As part of its annual academic enrichment initiatives, the Master of Arts in Translation for Professionals (MATFP) programme successfully organised the MATFP Industry Visit 2025—an event designed to expose students to the real-world workings of the language services industry and inspire their future careers.

This year’s visit took place on 15th May 2025 at Centific Global Solutions (M) Sdn Bhd, located in George Town, Penang. Centific is a Seattle-based technology company at the forefront of artificial intelligence, redefining the future through innovative solutions and global collaboration.

The visit offered students a valuable opportunity to:

✔ Gain practical insights into the daily operations of a professional translation and AI-driven firm

✔ Network with industry experts and potential employers

✔ Learn about current industry standards, best practices, and technological trends

✔ Explore diverse career pathways within translation and language services

During the visit, both students and academic staff engaged in an insightful session with Centific's team, learning firsthand about the vital role that language professionals play in AI-based projects. Representatives from the company shared key information on career requirements, industry expectations, and emerging opportunities in the field.

Participants also toured Centific’s sophisticated office space and were introduced to the company’s management team, gaining a deeper appreciation for the professional environment and culture within a global tech-driven enterprise.

This visit not only strengthened students’ understanding of industry dynamics but also reinforced the relevance and impact of translation professionals in a rapidly evolving digital world.
