PROFILE

Ilangko Subramaniam (PhD.) is a Ministry of Education scholar and received his Ph.D from Universiti Sains Malaysia, specialising in curricular and competence in Higher Education. He has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) degree and a Teaching Certificate in Malay Language. Ilangko has more than 15 years of teaching experience in both primary and secondary schools. He has held administrative posts as panel head, head of department for Humanities section and Senior Assistant (1) in a high performing school in Penang.

Currently, he teaches Malay Language courses for the undergraduates and international students. He is the coordinator for the compulsory higher level Malay Language course  (LKM 003)  offered for the newly appointed lecturers in the university. For postgraduate students, he teaches LCT 502 (Culture, Society and Psychology in Translation); LCT 503 (Research and Technology for Translation) and LCT 507 (Translation Commentary) courses. He is also the main supervisor for 10 PhD candidates and co-supervisor for 4 postgraduate candidates. His area of interest includes language teaching, higher education, soft skill competence and translation.

Dr. Ilangko Subramaniam served as the Deputy Dean (Research, Post-Graduate and Networking) in the School of Languages, Literacies and Translation, Universiti Sains Malaysia for six years.
